Lazio give transfer update on Manchester United player Andreas Pereira

Lazio expect Andreas Pereira to join the club from Manchester United in the coming days.

The 24-year-old was pushed further down the pecking order following the arrival of Donny van de Beek from Ajax and has failed to make United's matchday squad for their opening two Premier League fixtures.

Lazio are believed to be targeting a loan deal with the option to buy the midfielder and the Serie A side's sporting director indicated that an agreement is nearing with United.

He said: "We expect Andreas Pereira to be completed in the next two or three days with Manchester United."

Lazio manager Simone Inzaghi also expressed his excitement at the prospect of working with the Brazilian.

"I know him, he is a quality player who can give us a big helping hand. I don't want to to talk too much about players who haven't signed yet.

"We'll see if he arrives or not."

The transfer window closes on October 5 and MEN Sport understand United remain hopeful of securing a deal for priority transfer target Jadon Sancho.

United have made progress in talks over Sancho's salary and the agent's fees over the recent weeks, but MEN Sport understand there is a 'fundamental gap' between both parties that caused an impasse in any progress being made.
