Lazar Markovic makes Liverpool admission and speaks out on 'special' Jurgen Klopp

Lazar Markovic has admitted he still supports Liverpool and has heaped the praise on "special" manager Jurgen Klopp.

Markovic was brought to Anfield in the summer of 2014 by Brendan Rodgers with high expectations but played just 23 times during his five-year contract.

Nowadays, the Serbian winger is back at where it all started for him at Partizan Belgrade and he admitted he is still a keen supporter of the Reds.

"I support them, of course, I watch them when I have time. I had a contract for many years there and of course, I will always watch them," Markovic said to BEIN Sports.

The 25-year-old was asked about the two managers he played under at Anfield - Rodgers and Klopp - stating that both of them are at the top level.

"Both are top coaches. You can see with Brendan at Leicester (the job he's doing) and Jurgen is something special," Markovic explained.

"I would like to come back to the Premier League, but I don't know maybe Italy or somewhere maybe Qatar, who knows?"

Klopp came under criticism from some quarters recently for his decision to rest his senior players during the mid-season break, and instead hand over responsibility to under-23s boss, Neil Critchley.

The Liverpool boss has been a longstanding critic of congested fixture scheduling and the potential impact it can have on player welfare.

However, the young Reds beat Shrewsbury Town at Anfield on Tuesday night, and Markovic has jumped to the German's defence and believes he knows full well what he is doing.

"I think they needed the break because there are so many cups to play like in Europe and games in the Premier League," the Serbian said.

"I think Klopp knows very well what he's doing, you can see they are first and 100% they will win the title."

Markovic has scored three goals in two league appearances for Partizan since making the return to his homeland in September.
