Layvin Kurzawa to Arsenal conflicting reports as Aubameyang claim made by former Tottenham star

Conflicting reports on Kurzawa

There have been conflicting reports surrounding the chances of Layvin Kurzawa joining Arsenal.

Todofichajes say that the Gunners have agreed a five-year deal with the Paris Saint-Germain player.

However, Sport are now saying that the French side have changed their mind when it comes to letting the left-back leave on a free at the end of the season.

Kurzawa joined PSG from Monaco in 2015 but has struggled to nail down a regular starting place during a stop-start five years in the French capital.

The 27-year-old would offer natural competition for Kieran Tierney and Sead Kolasinac, Arsenal’s current options at left-back.

Aubameyang departure would be 'massive blow'

Former Tottenham and Manchester United striker Dimitar Berbatov believes a lack of silverware may make it difficult for Arsenal to retain the services of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

The 30-year-old striker has yet to win a trophy with the Gunners despite scoring 61 goals in 97 appearances since joining from Borussia Dortmund in January 2018.

Aubameyang’s contract at the Emirates Stadium will expire in 2021.

Speaking to Betfair, Berbatov said losing the Gabon international would be a 'massive blow' for Mikel Arteta.

“In my opinion they need to do everything possible to stop him from leaving,” he said.

“I watched him closely at Dortmund and at Arsenal, and for me he is a great player with his speed, his movement and his goals. He is also their captain and a really important player for the team, he is out of contract next year and they should do everything possible to keep him.

“If he wants to leave, it will be difficult for teams to sign him because Arsenal will want a lot of money for him, and of course he is worth it.

“In the current situation teams are looking seriously at their budget and I think it will be hard for clubs to afford him. But, I have no doubt that teams will be looking at his situation and taking a lot of interest in it.”

Arsenal, Chelsea and Spurs unite over proposal

Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham are believed to be three of the clubs behind a proposal to finish the 2019/20 Premier League season by June 30.

The Premier League and its clubs remain committed to completing the campaign, which has been suspended indefinitely due to the coronavirus pandemic.

And while the possibility of playing games as late as August has been discussed, it’s believed a group of clubs are determined to set a June 30 deadline.

That date poses possible challenges for clubs such as Liverpool, however, who are due to change shirt manufacturers.

However, the scheme to finish by the end of June was not at Friday’s Premier League shareholders meeting, which discussed “possible scheduling models”.

ITV Sport have reported that the earliest resumption date is sometime in May, but all plans will be guided by the government which on Thursday announced a three-week extension to the coronavirus-enforced lockdown.
