Layton Stewart starts as Liverpool hand out FIVE full debuts against Derby County

Layton Stewart has been handed his senior Liverpool debut as Jurgen Klopp makes 11 changes for the visit of Derby County in the Carabao Cup.

Stewart has been in good form up front for Barry Lewtas's Under-21s this season and is rewarded for his goals and performances with a place in the senior lineup as the Reds get the defence of their EFL Cup underway at home to the League One Rams.

Stewart, who scored a memorable hat-trick against Wolves for the U21s last month, is one of five full senior debutants in the starting XI that includes Stefan Bajcetic, Bobby Clark and Melkamu Frauendorf.

Bajcetic and Clark have both had experience from the bench this season, but start their first game for Klopp, while Frauendorf makes his first appearance of any kind this term after playing a part in the FA Cup win against Shrewsbury in January.

Elsewhere, Calvin Ramsay makes his full debut after joining from Aberdeen in the summer in a back four that includes Joe Gomez, Nat Phillips and Kostas Tsimikas.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain makes his first start since March in the front alongside Stewart and Fabio Carvalho, who is expected to line up on the left of Liverpool's front three.

On the bench, there's a spot for 16-year-old Academy starlet Ben Doak, who has impressed with his performances for the Reds' U19s squad in the UEFA Youth League this term.

Darwin Nunez, Roberto Firmino and Harvey Elliott are also part of an otherwise inexperienced bench at Anfield.

Liverpool : Kelleher; Ramsay, Gomez, Phillips, Tsimikas; Bajcetic, Frauendorf, Clark; Oxlade-Chamberlain, Stewart, Carvalho.

Subs : Adrian, Davies, Firmino, Elliott, Nunez, Doak, Cain, Quansah, Chambers.
