Giants’ Kamrin Moore seeks dismissal of domestic violence charges

Two weeks ago, a New Jersey judge dismissed an order of protection against New York Giants safety Kamrin Moore stemming from an alleged domestic incident in July, and yet his career is still hanging in the balance.

Despite the dismissal, Moore remains on the commissioner’s exempt list and awaits the court’s final decision on whether to drop all charges — something he and his representation are seeking, claiming the entire incident stems from a “jilted ex-girlfriend.”

“We agree with Judge (Frederick) McDaniels’ description of her as a jilted ex-girlfriend whose credibility as a result of what happened in the domestic violence case is damaged beyond repair,” Moore’s lawyer James Abate told NJ Advance Media. “I fully expect that the prosecutor will dismiss the charges upon completing her review.”

Abate continued:

“Despite presiding judge Frederic McDaniel dismissing the domestic violence complaint and temporary restraining order against Kamrin on August 14th, Prosecutor (Karyn) Weingarten has not dismissed the domestic violence charges in this case. In addition to the redacted transcript, Prosecutor Weingarten now has the audio recording of Judge McDaniel’s decision, so we remain hopeful the domestic violence charges against Kamrin will be dismissed in the next week so he can be reinstated by the NFL and resume his career with the New York Giants.”

Moore was initially suspended after he was arrested and charged with third-degree aggravated assault. He has missed the entirety of training camp and the preseason.

The Giants will have until 4 p.m. on Saturday to trim their roster from 90 men to 53, and at that point they will have to decide whether to keep Moore on the roster or waive him outright.
