A prominent Swedish lawyer who represented rapper A$AP Rocky has been "shot in an ambush attack" in Stockholm, according to reports.

Henrik Olsson Lilja was leaving his apartment building in Stockholm shortly before 9am local time when a gunman approached and shot him, Forbes reports.

The lawyer reportedly called the police himself with emergency services responding at 8.59am, Swedish newspaper Expressen said.

Police are treating it as an isolated incident and "several people" have been arrested for questioning, officers said.

A spokesperson for the prosecutor's office said: "One person has been arrested as a suspect for the attempted murder attempt."

Neighbours saw a person wrestle the lawyer in a stairwell before the shooting and gave Mr Olsson Lilja a phone to call the police, according to Forbes.

Police said they had since arrested several suspects, including a woman who is also a senior lawyer.

She was previously banned from contacting Mr Olsson Lilja, but the shooter has been identified as a man.

The gunman jumped into a waiting SUV after the attack and sped off.

Mr Olsson Lilja's condition is currently unknown.

The Swedish Police Authority wrote on its website: "The police have arrested several people for questioning.

"The investigation is at an intense stage and the police are working on several different fronts to make progress."

The lawyer first represented A$AP Rocky when he was taken into custody following an assault, but he was replaced before the trial began.
