Lawyer who failed with Notts County takeover bid sparks Grimsby Town speculation

A solicitor  who failed in a bid to buy Notts County  this summer has sparked speculation linking him with Grimsby Town.

Colin Dodd had created a company entitled Meadow Lane  Project  Limited in April  when he was hoping to complete a purchase of the Magpies from previous owner Alan Hardy.

But that has now been renamed Blundell Park Project Limited after a resolution was filed at Companies House.

Blundell Park is where Grimsby play their home games, although the Mariners are looking to move to a new stadium with North East Lincolnshire Council revealing a deal was close earlier this summer.

It is believed that Dodd is  still looking to get involved in football after being unsuccessful in his pursuit of Notts who were eventually sold to Danish brothers Christoffer and Alexander Reedtz at the end of July.

Dodd had been in talks with previous owner Hardy since January when he "reluctantly" put the club up for sale.

It emerged that he was considering property development around  the Meadow Lane area had he been successful.

But there was controversy surrounding one  member of his group in that Alex May was revealed to be a convicted fraudster living under a new name, having been previously known as Alick Kapikanya.

Those revelations put huge pressure on Notts to cease all takeover talks but it was not until July when Notts said that they had finally ended negotiations with the group.
