The attorney for University of Cincinnati cop Ray Tensing said that he expects an indictment against his client, who fatally shot an unarmed black man at a traffic stop.
"I wouldn't be surprised if there is an indictment, I wouldn't be surprised if there isn't an indictment, but I think it's more likely there will be an indictment," he told WCPO on Tuesday.
Cincinnati Police Chief Jeffrey Blackwell agreed on WDBZ radio saying that the officer's body camera footage clearly shows the incident that will result in charges against the officer.
43-year-old Sam DuBose was pulled over by officer Tensing for a missing license plate nearly two weeks ago. According to police reports, Mr DuBose refused to give the officer his license and when asked to step out of the car a struggle ensued.
Mr DuBose attempted to flee the scene by speeding away when the officer was reportedly "dragged away." Officer Tensing fired one shot to the back of DuBose's head, killing him.
Officials are expected to release video of the stop at 1pm EST and are preparing for a negative response to the video, which has drawn national media attention.
