Lawrence Shankland wanted by Guingamp as Sam Cosgrove pursuers turn attention to Dundee United hotshot

Guingamp are considering a £2.5million bid for Scotland and Dundee United star Lawrence Shankland.

The Ligue 2 side tried to land Sam Cosgrove last month and agreed a deal with Aberdeen before the player knocked back the move back.

The French outfit are still in the market for a striker and Shankland is amongst their list of targets.

Dundee United and Shankland are both aware of the interest that has come to them via a third party.

United have made it clear that they are not actively looking to sell their top striker.

It would take an exceptional multi-million pound offer for United to even look at things.

Shankland, who has returned to light training after injury, is relaxed about the situation.

The free-scoring striker’s main objectives are getting goals for Dundee United and getting into Steve Clarke’s Scotland squad for the upcoming Nations League games.

Guingamp are a team who have massive financial backing and they are looking to win promotion to Ligue 1.

They offered £2.5 million for Cosgrove and were willing to pay more in add ons if they got promotion.

United boss Micky Mellon is still trying to add to his own squad.

He is keen on a loan move to work with striker James Norwood again but that is a move that Ipswich are likely to agree to in the short-term.

United are also looking at the possibility of bringing in another winger.
