Lawrence Shankland transfer latest as Dundee United chief makes bid admission

Dundee United sporting director Tony Ashgar admits they'll "have to look at" any bids for Lawrence Shankland this summer.

The Scotland international scored 24 goals in 26 games last season as Robbie Neilson 's side romped to the Championship title.

The former Aberdeen and Ayr poacher could be crucial to the club's plans for their first season back in the top flight since their relegation in 2016.

But while Dundee United are keen to hold on to their star man, if a big enough bid arrives they may be forced to do business.

Ashgar told BBC Scotland : "If bids come in, we'll have to look at them.

"[We'll assess] the situation financially, whether it's going to help the club long term. [It is] strange times, but ultimately we definitely want to hold on to him.

"Lawrence has two years left on his contract and I know he is really happy where he is. He is looking forward to playing for us in the Premiership.

"It will be interesting how the market is going to play. Everyone says there will be no transfer signings; I don't see that. Clubs are always going to try to enhance their squad and sign players."
