Lawrence Shankland puts Dundee United on transfer alert as Scotland striker switches agent

Dundee United striker Lawrence Shankland has switched to a new agent ahead of the summer transfer window.

The Scotland international was a key man as Robbie Neilson's side won promotion last season, scoring 24 goals in just 26 Championship games.

He's been less prolific under Micky Mellon in the top flight, with seven goals and three assists so far.

Shankland's goalscoring exploits over the past few seasons won him admirers such as Sunderland but Dundee United slapped a £3million price tag on his head.

Transfer speculation is sure to ramp up over the summer though after the striker joined a new agency.

The 25-year-old is now represented by StormSportsX who have players such as James Tavernier, Lyndon Dykes and James McCarthy on their roster.

A statement said: "StormSportsX are delighted to announce Dundee United Forward and Scotland internationalist Lawrence Shankland has joined our team.

"Welcome Lawrence, we look forward to working with you."

Shankland was left out of Steve Clarke's most recent Scotland squad but could yet be involved for Euro 2020.

Club boss Mellon explained: "Steve told him how highly he rates him.

“He has a lot of good strikers and the fight is on for everybody to try and get back into the squad.

“It is about Lawrence going out and meeting those wants from the Scotland manager.

"Steve made it clear he will be watching and how highly he rates him.

"I don’t really want to get involved in whether I was surprised or not.

“Steve Clarke has been very good and told Lawrence what he wants him to improve on.

“We will go and attack that as manager and player to get Lawrence where he wants to be which is in that Scotland squad."
