London cruiserweight Lawrence Okolie has become a world champion for the very first time.
Anthony Joshua’s protege dominated the experienced Krzysztof Glowacki in a one-sided battle for the vacant WBO cruiserweight belt at the SSE Arena, Wembley on Saturday night, winning via an explosive sixth-round knockout.
Title glory in only his 16th professional fight saw Okolie match Joshua’s early career exploits and leaves the Hackney favourite setting his sights on unification and then a move up to join his manager in the heavyweight ranks.
IBF champion Mairis Briedis is next in ‘The Sauce’s’ sights as he plots swift cruiserweight domination.
