Lawrence Chaney ended up in A&E watching iconic Ru Paul Scottish accent row on Drag Race UK

Lawrence Chaney has revealed they ended up in hospital after getting over excited while watching Ru Paul try a Scottish accent on Drag Race UK.

Glasgow-born Lawrence, 25, who won last year's RuPaul's Drag Race UK, had to go to A&E after an injury caused by the chaos on the show.

The talent, who was recently Irn Bru's fairy god maw for Christmas, claims they hurt their foot during the moment of madness.

The iconic moment came when Dundee's Ellie Diamond challenged RuPaul for not pronouncing her name with a Scottish accent.

On Twitter, Lawrence explained: "Funny story - I never thought they’d air the moment@elliediamond101 said “Why don’t you say my name in a Scottish accent?” to RuPaul.

"And when they did, I cheered out loud and jumped up and down, simultaneously standing on a plug - had to go to A&E (real)."

Ru had made a point of frequently saying Lawrence’s name with a Scottish twang, but never doing the same with Ellie’s.

On Season Two while chatting to RuPaul in the Werk Room, Ellie made a point of asking why her name wasn't given the same treatment in an incredibly awkward moment.

Ellie said: You keep saying Lawrence Chaney in a Scottish accent. Why don't you do the same for Ellie Diamond?"

Ru replied: "Im coming up with my Ellie Diamond storyline here. I worked up 'Shine bright like a diamond' last week. I'm trying some new things."

Later Ellie told the cameras: "Was that sassy. I generally don't think it was."

The moment has since been referenced in Drag Race US when RuPaul sat down to speak to New York-based Rosé, who is also Scottish and told her: "I can say only one thing with a Scottish accent.

"It’s: Lawrence Chaney! Can you teach me how to say something else with a Scottish brogue?"

Rose replied: "Yeah, yeah, here’s one. “Ellie Diamond!”’
