Runners from Law and District Amateur Athletic Club relished the challenge of the National Cross Country Relay Championships recently, with a number of impressive performances in Perth.
The club entered 13 teams across girls, boys and senior categories on Saturday, October 23.
And the majority of team Law loved the course, which didn’t have too many hills, although hill runner Maddy Watson was disappointed at the lack of gradient (but still ran an great 15:18 for the 4km route).
The girls’ teams finished in 19th, 46th, 57th and 64th with some great running, with the fastest times of the day belonging to Jessica Inglis in 10.21 mins and Alayna McCann with 10.38 mins for the 2.5km route.
U13 Hannah Jamieson had to adapt during her outing, running most of the route carrying her spikes after losing a shoe early on.
Meanwhile, the boys’ teams finished in 13th and 42nd with the third team being an U13 short and thus no official result.
It was then on to the Senior Women’s 4km race where Emily McNicol, Lesley Graham, Reagan Binnie and Maddy Watson ran very well to finish in 17th place.
The second women’s team saw Jen Beattie run her fastest ever race alongside Vicky Harrison.
Despite a couple of athletes pulling out due to sickness and work commitments, Law had three full senior teams out in the men’s race.
The first team came home in 41st place with a rapid opening leg from Kieran Pugh (12.58) and an impressive 12.39 from James Gillon in the last leg.
The Vets team of Darran Muir, Rich Beattie, Mark Milligan and Martin Kay were 77th overall and 13th Vets team of the day, with Darran and Rich giving the team a great start.
