Law & Order spin-off writer fired for threatening to 'light up' looters

Writer Craig Gore has been fired from the upcoming Law & Orderspin-off series after threatening to “light up” looters.

Dick Wolf, the executive producer and creator of Law & Order, gave a statement confirming that Gore had left the show.

Wolf said: “I will not tolerate this conduct, especially during our hour of national grief. I am terminating Craig Gore immediately.”

Gore, who previously wrote on the CBS series S.W.A.T., posted photos to Facebook on 1 June, which show him holding a firearm.

He wrote in a comment: “Sunset is being looted two blocks from me.”

“You think I wont light motherf***ers up who are trying to f*** w/ my property I worked all my life for? Think again...”

The photo was captioned with the word “curfew”, alluding to the Los Angeles public restrictions following protests over the killing of Minneapolis man George Floyd.

Gore had been hired to work on Law & Order: Organised Crime, a forthcoming spinoff that will focus on Christopher Meloni’s Elliot Stabler, who first appeared in Law and Order: Special Victims Unit. Fans are hopeful for an on-screen reunion with Mariska Hargitay’s character Olivia Benson.

Actor and musician Ice T praised Wolf for his swift action on the matter, writing: “Oh s***.. The Big Boss is cleaning house... RESPECT.”

Protests over Floyd’s killing are now taking place in 50 US states, with the police force coming under fire for its violent response.
