Law firm unveils six new partners in Edinburgh and Aberdeen

Brodies has appointed six new partners to its Aberdeen and Edinburgh operations.

Aberdeen-based Leigh Gould, Rhona McFarlane and Fiona Herrell step up to partner in their respective areas of personal and family, corporate and commercial (oil & gas) and employment.

In Edinburgh, Lucy McCann and Chris Duff become partners in litigation and Graeme Leith a partner in real estate.

In Brodies ’ dedicated oil and gas team in Aberdeen, Laura Petrie joins the firm as legal director.

These latest appointments come as Brodies records a 6% increase in people, up from 645 the previous year to 688, including 102 partners.

Managing partner Nick Scott said: “Our new partners have each demonstrated exemplary levels of commitment to our clients and colleagues, and that is recognised today. I look forward to supporting them in their new roles as they continue to develop their careers here at Brodies.

“In our strategic plans we remain committed to bringing the sharpest minds together. That fusing of multiple viewpoints is what delivers value to our clients and encourages us to collaborate, innovate and think differently.  That we have today assumed six of our colleagues as partners, and in April appointed Aberdeen-based partners Elaine Farquharson-Black and Bryan Wilson, is testament to that focus, the resilience of our clients and the trust they place in us to help them achieve their ambitions.”

In addition to the partner promotions and new appointments, Brodies has confirmed that 23 senior solicitors have been promoted to associate. The firm has also retained 11 of its trainees as newly qualified lawyers and recruitment is ongoing to appoint a further 22 to join the firm in autumn.

Scott said: “In the last year, we have grown the size of our team by 6% and our clients will continue to benefit from our ability to attract leading experts in their fields.

“The ongoing growth of our firm is about making sure that we are in the best position to provide opportunities for all of our colleagues to grow in their careers.  By investing in our team and recruiting excellent people, we seek to ensure that Brodies remains an outstanding place for our lawyers to give, and our clients to receive, top quality legal advice. I wish all of our new recruits and colleagues receiving promotion all the best in their new roles.”
