Law firm strengthens dispute resolution practice with new experienced hire

Law firm Burges Salmon has appointed a heavyweight dispute resolution practitioner to its growing Scottish team.

The appointment of Ewan McIntyre, who will be based in the firm’s Edinburgh office, will bolster Burges Salmon’s 100 plus UK-wide dispute resolution team.

Prior to joining Burges Salmon, McIntyre has held a range of senior management roles including being a partner at Burness Paull for eight years and also head of litigation at Morton Fraser.

Described by clients as a “tactically astute negotiator” and “an exceptional litigator”, he has almost 30 years’ experience advising across a variety of sectors, combined with non-executive and executive board experience.

With significant experience in acting on a wide range of complex disputes, McIntyre has particular expertise in air crash accident and professional indemnity work.

He said: “I am delighted to be joining Burges Salmon at such an exciting time in its growth to help develop and shape the firm’s dispute resolution offering in Scotland.”

He said he would be supporting the team across the transport, energy, infrastructure and financial services sectors.

Ann Metherall, head of dispute resolution at Burges Salmon, said the appointment “will help strengthen our long-standing successful Scottish practice. He will be an excellent addition to our market-leading Dispute Resolution team.”

Ewan McIntyre joined Burges Salmon on 2 November 2020.
