Law firm makes triple appointment of new solicitors

Law firm Gibson Kerr  has appointed three new solicitors.

Caroline MacBeath joins the family law team from Legal Services Agency along with Sue Anne MacAulay who moves from Drummond Miller. Katie Marshall joins the personal law department from Somerville & Russell.

MacBeath and MacAulay are experienced family law solicitors while Marshall advises on all aspects of private client work.

Meanwhile, Louise Clark has been promoted to trainee solicitor in the Property Department, having joined as a paralegal after completing her law diploma at Aberdeen University.

Helen Jackson has joined as practice manager and Ann Burton as legal secretary.

The new appointments take Gibson Kerr's headcount to 15 – a 25% rise year on year. This follows the firm’s acquisition in 2016 of two Edinburgh legal firms, Marwicks and Grange, Solicitors & Estate Agents.

Gibson Kerr, which dates back more than a century and operates from two Edinburgh city centre locations and specialises in personal law, family law and property, is led by partners Scott and Fiona Rasmusen and Lindsay Maclean. The property team is based at Dundas Street while India Street is home for the Personal and Family Law teams.

Scott Rasmusen said: “The mergers with Marwicks and Grange Solicitors & Estate Agents, and supported by a digital marketing drive, has seen a significant surge in new business.

“The new burst of appointments means we can continue to offer a highly affordable, high quality service to clients – and provide the grounding to underpin the further growth of the firm.”
