Law enforcement respond to Navy helicopter crash in Virginia

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — A Navy helicopter with two people on board crashed after the pilot attempted to make an emergency landing in Isle of Wight County on Wednesday morning, according to law enforcement officials.

Virginia State Police were called to the scene, in the 12300 block of The Oaks Lane, around 11:31 a.m., said Sgt. Michelle Anaya.

The incident was initially reported as a crash by state police. A spokesman for the Isle of Wight Sheriff’s Office said the helicopter made an “emergency landing.”

The two occupants were injured in the crash but their injuries were not considered life-threatening, Anaya said.

Both state troopers and the Isle of Wight Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene.
