Law and District Athletics Club stars complete 'virtual race'

Law and District Athletics Club haven’t let the lockdown get them down – competing in ‘virtual races’ to keep their fitness up.

Runners have been clocking their times and sending in pictures of their successful one mile time trials, in an event hosted by Scottish Athletics.

Law had 39 times uploaded to the official competition with some younger runners also taking part in a club 1200m time trial.

The seniors did very well with the Law A team completing four miles in 20.25, with Darran Muir (4:53) and Ross Hill (4:58) both getting under five minutes, and Oscar Logan (5:10) and James McClafferty (5:24) completing the run.

Under 15 star Logan Whitton was the fifth Law runner with a superb 5:31.

Ryan Kellock enjoyed the challenge so much he took part on Friday, on Saturday, on Sunday and a fourth attempt on the Monday with a fantastic best time of 5:41.

Matthew Gillon (5:37) and Ben Fountain (5:56) both came in under six minutes and Cameron Fry had a great run for 6:02. It was also good to see Daniel Munday taking part after having missed a lot of running due to illness.

Emily McNicol was the leading female in 5:42, followed by Fiona Currie in 6:15, Reagan Binnie running with a knock completing her mile in 6:18 and Margaret Newell in a time of 7.14.

Head coach Pat Kelly must be making the most of his daily exercise allowance, completing the mile in 5:55.

Sprinter Cameron Martin showed good endurance to complete a mile in 5:56.

There was a great turnout from the U13 squads as well with Joscelyn Kennedy fastest in 6:25 followed by Jessica Inglis (6:51), Daniel Simpson (7:01), Callum Woods (7:10), Callum Lowdon (7:15), Alayna McCann (7:22), Alex Orr (7:40), Rachel Stevenson (8:14), Lindsay Wishart (8:20) and Lola Quadrelli (8:26).

In the 1200m competition there was great runs from Ryan Muir, Ryan Kennedy, Cora Beattie, Callum Blackwood, Johann Gillon, Ryan Allan and Freya Whitton.
