Law and District Athletic Club kids are virtual stars

Youngsters from Law and District Amateur Athletics Club racked up some impressive results as their participation in the Scottish Athletics SUPERteams event continued.

The ‘SUPERteams’ is an extremely popular fixture in the annual competition calendar, but as traditional track and field events cannot currently take place due to Covid-19 restrictions, athletes have been able to keep the long-standing event going by competing against each other virtually.

And Law coaches were delighted with the performances of their young athletes, who competed virtually in four events over a two week period.

Each athlete took part in the 80m shuttle sprint, target throw, vertical jump and 800m (U11/U13) or 1km run (U15).

Athletes from throughout Scotland took part, providing stiff competition for the Law AAC contingent, who were able to hold their own and finished with terrific performances, resulting in the following positions:

Under-11 – Kyle Ferguson 56th; Olivia Inglis 14th

Under-13 – Rachel Stevenson 51st; Cora Beattie 57th; Ryan Muir 92nd;

Under-15 – Ailsa Downie 34th; Ryan Kellock 36th; Jessica Inglis 37th; Ross Ferguson 39th.

The next event on the Scottish Athletics virtual calendar is the Virtual 5K Challenge for under-17s to senior athletes.

The Virtual SUPERteams challenges are delivered by clubs, with team managers, coaches and club volunteers handling athlete registration, results and scoring in a club-based competition.
