Law and District Amateur Athletics Club athletes take medals haul

Three young athletes from Law and District AAC brought medals back from the Under-15 and Under-17 England Championships.

All three medalled after achieving personal bests in their performances.

First to compete was Law Village’s Dawn Russell at under-15 level, who took bronze after throwing 40.48m in the javelin.

That throw takes Dawn to the top of the Scottish Under-15 javelin rankings, and fifth in the UK.

Next to compete in the under-17 300m hurdle final war Leah Keisler from Biggar, who took a second off her previous personal best to win the silver medal in a time of 43.46s, which ranks her number one in Scotland and third in the UK.

Oscar Logan from Motherwell ran a cracking 800m at under-15 level, but was pipped to the post by 0.07seconds, which saw him take silver in a time of 1.58.94s, achieving under two minutes for the first time.

At the Masters 10,000m, the first National Championship event to be held at the John Cumming Stadium in Carluke, Law and District’s Darran Muir, from Wishaw, won gold in the V40 category, while Jim Rowley won silver in V70.
