Law AAC youngsters impress at Scottish Autumn Throws Series

Law and District Amateur Athletic Club youngsters put in a show of strength as they recorded new personal bests at the Scottish Autumn Throws Series recently.

A number of club members travelled to Linwood to take part in the hammer throw, javelin and discus, with all Law stars putting in impressive performances.

There has been little hammer competition throughout the track and field season this year, so those athletes, in particular, were delighted to take part.

The results were as follows:

(Bobby Gavin)

Discus – U13 Ross Ferguson (19.83m, PB); U11 Kyle Ferguson (8.91m, PB);

Hammer – U13 Johann Gillon (23.34m, PB); U15 Miya Waldron - (31.60m, PB); U15 Declan McClelland - (27.90m).

Javelin – U15 Jade Gray (23.46m, PB); U13 Ross Ferguson (18.90m, PB).

The cross country season was due to start at the beginning of October however COVID Government restrictions have seen the district and national cross country relays cancelled and the club are now hoping that the National Short Course, which is due to take place on December 5/6 will go ahead.

Meanwhile, athletes are completing individual virtual 3K challenges over the next week, in an attempt to obtain a qualifying time to be able to compete in the National Short Course as the number of entries are restricted due to Government Guidelines re COVID.

Only the fastest times in each age group from the virtual 3K challenges will qualify for the National Short Course.
