Northern Ireland international, Shayne Lavery, has spoken of his enjoyment at Blackpool after he got his career in tangerine off to a flying start at the weekend.
The striker scored his first goal for the club in a 2-0 pre-season friendly victory over Southport.
Speaking to the club website, Lavery said: “It’s always nice as a striker to find the back of the net, as that’s what we are there to do”.
“Pre-season is all about fitness and getting prepared for the start of the regular campaign, so getting minutes under your belt is really important.
“With there being a few new faces in the squad, it was a good opportunity for us to show the gaffer and the rest of the coaching staff what we could do, and I’m pleased to have got on the scoresheet early on.”
Lavery is one of seven new arrivals at the club after he made the switch from Linfield.
He enjoyed two successful years with the blues scoring 47 times in 77 games.
The striker was also named Ulster Footballer of the year and Young Player of the Year last season, while helping the Blues to the Irish League title and Irish cup.
The Aghagallon man says the Blackpool squad is "really good to be a part of."
“I’ve really enjoyed my time here so far,” he told the club website.
“With it being pre-season, training has been tough as we all want to get up to speed and be in as best a condition as possible for the new season. Everyone’s been so welcoming and it’s a really good squad to be a part of. I’ve loved it so far and I’m looking forward to getting in more training and matches over the course of pre-season and getting to know my team mates even more.”
Blackpool start their Championship campaign away to Bristol City on August 7.
