Lavazza’s 2020 calendar has been unveiled, featuring work by famous American photographer David LaChapelle.
LaChapelle is a commercial photographer and music video director who has worked with the likes of Whitney Houston, Elton John, No Doubt and Amy Winehouse.
The 2020 calendar was shot in Hawaii - where LaChapelle moved from New York in 2006 - and is dubbed ‘Ode de Nature,’ focusing on the intimate relationship humans have with the natural world.
“Where I live is really isolated and off the grid,” he told Vice about the move. “I was visiting this one particular area [while on a shoot for Motorola] then I realized I could live there. I’ve always loved nature and the woods.”
The Lavazza calendar was launched in 1993. Previous calendars have featured the work of other noted photographers, including French portrait photographer Denis Rouvre in 2017, American portrait photographer Mark Seliger in 2011 and German photographer and director Ellen Von Unwerth in 2006.
The 2019 calendar was a project by American photojournalist Ami Vitale and featured images of six nature art installations aiming to raise awareness of efforts to protect the environment
