LaVar Ball says NCAA is using LaMelo Ball to ‘prove a point’

Following the conclusion of the NCAA Tournament last week, the college basketball season is officially over. Now, Division I programs will start to look at the next crop of recruits and unfortunately, it doesn’t sound like LaMelo Ball will part of that group.

While Ball is undeniably talented enough to get a scholarship from a Division I college basketball program, he might not be eligible to play in the NCAA after playing professionally in Lithuania in 2018. LaMelo’s father, LaVar Ball, thinks there’s more to it than that, though.

In the latest episode of “Ball In the Family,” LaVar said that he believes the NCAA is trying to make an example of his youngest son:

“It’s going to be hard getting Melo into a college program because they NCAA wants to prove a point. But I do know for a fact that Melo brings a crowd and he wins, so if you can get the guy that can entertain, and win, and put people in the seats, that’s what you start your program with.”

An official announcement hasn’t been made by LaMelo yet, but it’s more likely that he’ll play professionally overseas again than it is he’ll play in the NCAA, even if his preference is the latter.
