LaVar Ball says media misconstrued Big Baller Brand downfall

The immediate aftermath of the Big Baller Brand and Alan Foster situation was a messy one for the future of the brand and one that spelled demise for the future. With some much uncertainty surrounding the company as majority owner Lonzo Ball worked on a lawsuit against fellow co-founder Foster, questions about how much longer the company could stay afloat arose.

On his recent appearance on ESPN First Take, Ball blamed the media and said they misconstrued many of the events in the fallout of the Foster situation.

“It’s the media. The media says my boys have went to Nike and stopped doing this. That’s where you get these perceptions right here. When they talking all this crazy stuff, they sitting at the table and I’m making them pancakes and strawberries and eggs. They don’t even know about that. Big Baller Brand is a family brand. Family ain’t going nowhere.”

Everything about Ball’s argument, though, comes unglued when you start looking at the facts. It was LaVar’s son Lonzo that spearheaded much of the speculation whether it be covering his Big Baller Brand tattoo or posting a cryptic message on Instagram that included Nike’s motto. And it was Ball’s manager and close friend that further added fuel to the first when he posted a video throwing out his Big Baller Brand shoes.

Connecting the dots quickly becomes an easy task at that point and it points to the downfall of the company. However, as time has passed, it appears Lonzo and Big Baller Brand may not be done after all as the two sides may be working on a new shoe.
