LaVar Ball on Big Baller Brand: ‘I thought we were going to do better’

Like every other business, Big Baller Brand has suffered during the pandemic. Unlike other businesses, Big Baller Brand was not in a position to withstand the economic hit the pandemic caused.

A company already floundering built on an unsustainable model of overpriced products, Big Baller Brand was more vulnerable than most to the global economy coming to a sudden stop. Paired with its two prime selling stars set to leave and Big Baller Brand has found itself in a rather precarious situation.

During the latest episode of “Ball in the Family,” LaVar Ball addressed Big Baller Brand’s struggles during the pandemic.

“Hey, you guys, I know it’s nothing to get worried about but I must touch up on this. I thought we was going to do better than what we’ve been doing. The numbers ain’t where I thought they would be but with the pandemic going around, every business is hurting so we’re going to have to come up with some different concepts or some different ideas.”

Here is a full video of the segment about the company’s struggles.

Sans LaMelo and Lonzo moving forward, the company will have to take a new strategy. Part of that strategy may involve the brand’s proposed Ball Sports Complex in Chino Hills. The company also discussed moving into the team sports apparel market as well, another possibility without Lonzo and LaMelo.

Regardless of what the plan is moving forward, it will be a drastically different version of Big Baller Brand in the future. While there are arguments about whether their company has been a success to date, the notoriety gained as brand is unquestioned, which is one of the main things that could make the next phase of the brand work.
