LaVar Ball: LeBron James isn’t going anywhere, looking big picture

A lot of people in the Lakers orbit have been wondering about what might happen should the Los Angeles Lakers once again whiff on bringing a star level talent to their team during the current offseason.

But one person who is even closer to the Lakers is the outspoken father of Lonzo Ball, LaVar. It was Ball, who months before Magic Johnson’s sudden departure, suggested that Magic didn’t have the autonomy the Lakers organization was projecting. While it’s fair to have skepticism on him as a narrator, he’s been one of the few people close to the Lakers to talk about the team’s operations in public.

So it’s with the above grains of salt that we present another nugget from the Ball patriarch: LeBron James won’t go anywhere, no matter what happens to the Lakers in free agency. LaVar thinks LeBron is playing the “long game.”

LaVar kept a low profile around the Lakers last season during LeBron’s first year and popped up around the trade deadline, declaring that he did not want Lonzo to play for the Pelicans. It will be interesting to see if Ball’s latest appearance will be enough to keep his son by LeBron’s side.
