LaVar Ball discusses plans new Big Baller Brand ‘Ball Sports Complex’

The future of Big Baller Brand sans LaMelo Ball – with Lonzo likely to soon follow – is a murky one. Having the two biggest draws leave the company will likely force a change in how the company operates moving forward if it is to survive.

In Sunday’s episode of “Ball in the Family,” LaVar revealed a plan that may be the new phase of the brand. The company’s shift from LaMelo- and Lonzo-focused lines will see them move away from apparel lines and into a new aspect of sports.

In a meeting with everyone associated with Big Baller Brand, LaVar discussed plans to build a Ball Sports Complex, a massive complex with multiple courts, a court with seating as a feature court, a retail shop and offices for Big Baller Brand.

Ball also discussed some of the specifics of the proposed complex during the show.

“The next I’ll have is looking for either a warehouse or some land and we’re going to build a gym. We’re going to build a place where we can have 10 courts, 3000 seats that go around so now we’re not looking for a place to practice, we’re not looking for a space for a game. It’s ours.”

“We want to have our own facility. It’s a very expensive plan but it costs money to make money. Triple Bs is coming back bigger and better.”

The exact timeline of the meeting in the show is uncertain, but it’s certain it takes place during the lockdown given the discussions had during the meeting. Given the rest of the timeline of the show, which takes place during the first weeks of Lonzo Ball’s time in the bubble with the Pelicans, the meeting would have taken place in early August.

There has been no other mention of this complex outside of this show, which isn’t necessarily indicative of much. The planning process for this would take multiple months if the company and Ball are looking to move forward with the plan. The proposed location would be in Chino Hills, which isn’t a surprise given that’s where the family lives and has been based.

This is an interesting direction for LaVar to potentially take the company. It would be a drastic change from the current model, but that model isn’t necessarily working either. And if Lonzo and LaMelo are not part of the future, the company would need to go a different route to be successful.
