Lonzo Ball filed a lawsuit on Tuesday against Big Baller Brand co-founder and LaVar Ball’s longtime friend, Alan Foster, seeking $2 million to be paid back for Foster’s alleged embezzlement scheme.
The legal battle marks the latest hit to Big Baller Brand, which has teetered on the verge of folding since ESPN initially reported Foster’s firing from the company.
Despite the glaring issues (and Lonzo publicly distancing himself from Big Baller Brand), LaVar continued to insist that the brand was fine.
LaVar joined Las Vegas radio station 98.5 KLUC and spun the recent turmoil as a minor setback while calling Foster a “snake.”
Ball said:
“I’m not going to let one rooty-toot guy come in here and do something bad and then be like, ‘Oh, the brand’s not good.’ The brand is good. It’s just somebody did something bad to it.
“And it’s like — here’s the thing: We had a snake up in the thing. But you gotta understand this: I’m a snake charmer. Being a snake charmer, you’re gonna get bit, but he can’t kill me.
“So, by him doing that negative stuff, I’m not going to make that about this right here. It’s about the Triple-Bs, the brand. We still good.”
When asked about the reports that the brand almost folded, LaVar said:
“No, that’s what people want to say that the brand is done. They want to say that. There’s a reason. They want to carry the Big Baller Brand down.”
On Sunday, LaVar hosted the Big Baller Brand All-American Game in Las Vegas and addressed the crowd about the drama facing his company.
Big Baller Brand’s social accounts have gone silent since ESPN’s initial story was published, and the products on the BBB site have been marked down considerably in recent days.
