LaVar Ball blames media for negative coverage of family, Big Baller Brand

The last year has been a rather tumultuous one for the Ball family. Alan Foster’s embezzlement allegations, Lonzo and LaVar’s fallout and the downfall and relaunch of Big Baller Brand.

Naturally, with so much news circulating the family, coverage increased with each new report. That coverage left a sour taste in LaVar Ball’s mouth and he sounded off recently. During his House Guest appearance for The Player’s Tribune, Ball talked about how his family has been covered in the news.

“Negativity sells. So you don’t want to hear about the good stuff my boys are doing or the good stuff I’m doing. It’s better to have us riff-raffing, going at each other. And that’s just what it is. People look at that better, as far as the media. But people who get to know us are like ‘Man, they’re not tripping off that.’ The best thing to do is make us go our separate ways because together as a family, we’re going to be super strong.”

As LaVar typically does, he used the media as a form of a scapegoat when the problems being reported and discussed were very real. Viewers of “Ball in the Family” saw Lonzo and LaVar’s distant relationship firsthand. They also saw LaMelo remain distant from the company as both he and Lonzo were not seen in Big Baller Brand shoes on the court this season.

It seems as though the family has mended fences in the months that have passed since the situation surrounding Foster, a person that LaVar brought into the family and business. But one could hardly blame the kids for being made nor the media for reporting on a wild last 12 months.
