Lautaro Martinez transfer latest: Chelsea eye move for Barcelona target, Man United out of race

With the January transfer window now closed, rumours are already heating up for what big moves will take place in the summer.

Chelsea were unable to bring in any players during the winter transfer window, despite Frank Lampard's hopes of bolstering his attacking line.

There were a number of strikers linked with a move to Stamford Bridge, including the likes of Dries Mertens from Napoli and Moussa Dembele of Ligue 1 side Lyon.

The latest to be linked is Inter's Argentina international Lautaro Martinez.

The striker is said to have a number of suitors as we look forward to the summer transfer window.

So what is the latest on his future?

Man United baulk at transfer fee

Manchester United are one of the teams linked with Martinez, and reportedly made an enquiry about his availability in the summer window.

The striker joined Inter for £20million in 2018, but Inter are apparently insisting that he will not be allowed to leave for less than his £94million release clause.

That valuation has apparently meant that United will be looking at other targets in the summer.

Preferred destination

According to ESPN, Martinez would favour a move to Barcelona over Manchester United.

United have apparently been told that Barca are the favourites to land the 22-year-old because of a preference for the Camp Nou and the desire to play alongside Lionel Messi.

Chelsea interest

Calciomercato state that Frank Lampard is thinking of a move for the striker as an alternative to Moussa Dembele.

And they could potentially knock some of the price off of a deal by offering players in exchange.

Chelsea would apparently be willing to offer either Emerson Palmieri or Marcos Alonso, with Antonio Conte known to be a fan of Alonso following his time at Stamford Bridge.
