Lautaro Martinez has already said what he will bring to Tottenham after £50m transfer fee agreed

Tottenham Hotspur are still looking to complete the signing of Inter Milan and Argentina star Lautaro Martinez this month.

football.london reported on Sunday that the north London club had agreed a fee - believed to be in excess of £50million - with Inter, but there could be further complications.

The fee was agreed before the deal for Chelsea to re-sign Romelu Lukaku entered its latter stages and now the Milan-based club are reluctant to allow two of their star forwards to leave the San Siro this summer.

Martinez, who scored 19 goals for Inter in 38 games last season, is highly-rated around Europe, with the likes of Arsenal and Barcelona also said to be keen on his services.

But what exactly would Nuno Espirito Santo be getting if he was to bring the 23-year-old to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium? Well, Martinez himself may have already revealed just that.

The Argentina international highlighted his work ethic as a key attribute of his, as well as his ability in front of goal.

Martinez said earlier this summer, via Sempre Inter: "The coach trusts me as well as all the staff and teammates. I always try to do my best, sometimes the ball goes in and sometimes it doesn’t.

“A striker lives for scoring goals, but I always give everything for the team regardless of my personal rewards.

"Wearing the Albiceleste shirt is the best thing there is for me. Now we play Ecuador, a tough opponent: we want to continue in the Copa America in the best possible way.”

Martinez, however, did struggle with some discipline issues in the 2019/20 season - where the Inter forward picked up 11 yellow cards in all competitions.

The Argentine revealed earlier in the summer that he worked with a psychologist in order to improve on this area of his game.

“I am at a very important stage of my career, and this year I’ve felt something I hadn’t known before,” he explained while speaking to the press in Argentina.

“I am happy and satisfied with my career, everything I do at Inter is helping me with the national team. I am improving physically, I’ve trained carefully to get into peak shape.

“It was more complicated to work on my mentality. Becoming a father has helped me to solve many things off the pitch. A psychologist has helped me to protest less and collect fewer yellow cards.

“Check the stats and you can see I’ve improved. A new season is on the horizon and so is the 2022 World Cup.”
