Lauriston Place accident: 14-year-old boy injured after being knocked down

Police and paramedics were called out after a young boy was knocked down on street in central Edinburgh.

Ambulance crews were seen treating the boy on Lauriston Place shortly during the rush hour on Wednesday evening.

He suffered an injury to his ankle and was taken to hospital.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: "Police in Edinburgh responded to Lauriston Place at around 5.10pm on Wednesday, 28 August following a collision involving a car and a 14-year-old male pedestrian.

"The youth was taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh after sustaining an injury to his ankle.

"Inquiries into this incident are ongoing."

The road was closed for around an hour before reopening, with buses diverted around the street.
