Laurent Koscielny considers Ligue 1 offer as Arsenal future looks in doubt

Laurent Koscielny is facing an uncertain future at Arsenal following big money offers from France.

Bordeaux are believed to have offered the defender a three-year deal to bring him back to his home nation.

Fellow Ligue 1 sides Lyon and Rennes have also shown an interest but it leaves Koscielny, 33, in a difficult position as Arsenal have been in no rush to discuss new terms.

Koscielny only has 12 months left on his existing contract at Arsenal.

There is a feeling that Arsenal will just allow Koscielny to run down his contract but the captain is looking for longer term security.

Bordeaux’s offer is believed to be two years with a third year option and they hope a fresh challenge could appeal to the veteran centre-back.

Arsenal would be reluctant to let him leave with Shkodran Mustafi surplus to requirements.

They could yet sell or loan Calum Chambers this summer despite his impressive season-long loan at Fulham last term.

Arsenal are hoping that Rob Holding and Hector Bellerin will continue to make good progress from long-term knee injuries.

But such long lay-offs mean it’s difficult to predict how long they will be out and Holding may return until September and Bellerin a month later.

Arsenal are signing St Etienne defender William Saliba for £26m but the teenager will be loaned back and that means they will be reluctant to let Koscielny go.

Chambers could yet be used as makeweight in a deal to bring Wilfried Zaha to the Emirates.

The Gunners are lining up a players-plus-cash bid for the Crystal Palace forward, and could throw Chambers into the package.

Carl Jenkinson and Mohamed Elneny are two other players being considered as part of the offer, with Palace's valuation too high for Arsenal's current transfer budget.

Zaha is keen to make the switch, with his brother suggesting Palace would be willing to accept £70 million for the Ivorian.

However with Arsenal only operating on a £45 million summer kitty, he's been forced to look for alternative options to tempt Palace into a sale.
