Laurent Blanc’s agent has confirmed that the Paris Saint-Germain coach will leave the club by the end of the week.
Nasser al-Khelaifi, the club president, hinted this month that he could be considering a change when he described their season as a failure despite achieving their second successive domestic treble by winning Ligue 1, the French Cup and the League Cup.
However, the defeat against Manchester City in the quarter-finals was the fourth successive season they have exited the competition at that stage and Blanc’s agent Jean Pierre Bernès has now confirmed that the former Manchester United defender will be leaving the club after three seasons in charge.
“Before the end of the week, PSG and Laurent Blanc will be separated,” he told French radio station Europe 1.
“We’re in discussions with PSG directors and it’s being done in an excellent atmosphere from both sides. Simply put, there are rules that need to be respected to end a contract and PSG are respecting those.”
Unai Emery, the former Sevilla manager who resigned from his post last week, is expected to replace Blanc.
Reports on Monday suggested that Blanc, 50, has agreed a €20m compensation package to leave PSG. Yahoo Sport said that the former France manager has negotiated his golden handshake by phone after returning to Paris from Italy this week.
