Laurence Fox has failed to convince his legion of fans after announcing his surprise engagement news to a mystery blonde.
The controversial actor-turned-politician confirmed he was set to walk down the aisle for a second time as he shared a snapshot of an announcement in the Daily Telegraph newspaper on social media.
The 43-year-old, who was previously married to actress Billie Piper, revealed he had popped the question to Arabella May Fleetwood Neagle, and shared his delight with his 305,000 followers on Twitter.
“An announcement. She said yes,” Laurence captioned the photo, prompting his fans to offer their well wishes to the happy couple.
“Congratulations to you both,” one wrote. “Congratulations. Wishing you and your intended all the very best,” another added.
“Congratulations, that is lovely to see something so positive for a change on social media,” one follower replied.
“Congratulations to you both. Here's to a lifetime of love,” another wrote.
However, some weren’t impressed with the news of his whirlwind romance.
“Make sure she is vaccinated,” one replied, referencing Laurence’s anti-vax views amid the Covid-19 pandemic.
“Poor girl,” another joked, as one wrote: “Congrats......just one question.....is she on drugs? Lol.”
Some also suggested that this could be a prank, as his decision to announce the engagement in a newspaper is at odds with his previous stance on ‘fake news’.
“Man of the people announces his engagement in the press,” one commented. “That Telegraph boycott still going strong then,” another mused.
The news comes just days after he posted a photo of himself sharing an embrace with a mystery blonde while sunning themselves on a beach.
It will be the second marriage for Laurence, who split from actress Billie in 2016 after almost 10 years of marriage.
The couple began dating in 2006, tying the knot just one year later, and share two sons - Winston, 12, and nine-year-old Eugene.
