Laurence Fox admits he may give up acting after receiving death threats

Laurence Fox has admitted that he is considering giving up acting after receiving death threats.

The actor, 41, has been thrust into the spotlight over the last few weeks after making a number of controversial comments regarding race.

As a result, he has been slammed on social media by hordes of fellow actors, with some suggesting that he may "never work again.

Appearing on Good Morning Britain today, Piers Morgan asked whether he was worried about his acting career.

Piers continued: "Because the acting world is very woke, in many ways. Are you worried about that?"

"We'll have to wait and see," Laurence said. "But does one want to work in a career where you have to have the right opinions? Because I don't.

"I don't think art is going to be improved if everyone has the same opinion."

Laurence went on to say that he should be able to give an opinion without being vilified and accused of being racist.

"I've had death threats, which is unfortunate," he said. asked why he thought that was, he replied: "When you don't have an argument your rage increases."

Laurence landed in hot water once again earlier this week after slamming Oscar-winning director Sam Mendes over his movie 1917 which includes a Sikh soldier.

In the bizarre interview, Laurence said that "forcing diversity on people" is "institutionally racist".

Laurence was probed on his comments by Susanna Reid and Piers.

Despite previously supporting the actor, Piers pointed out that this was a clear "misstep" and questioned him on why it was "institutionally racist".

Laurence attempted to argue that there were "a lot of soldiers fighting for the empire" and described the addition of the Sikh soldier as "incongruous".

Susanna responded: "To call it institutionally racist is extraordinary."
