An audio series depicting life in one of Chicago’s historically Black neighborhoods — and its all-star cast — is back for its second season.
“Bronzeville,” named in honor of Chicago’s “Black Metropolis,” launches its season two on Tuesday.
The second season aims to pick up where the season one finale left off as the Copelands — Bronzeville’s most prominent family — deal with the fallout of Everett Copeland’s death (played by West Side native Wood Harris).
The series, which first aired in 2017, has a star-studded cast including Laurence Fishburne (as banker Curtis Randolph), West Side native Larenz Tate (Copeland family bodyguard), and “Mixed-Ish” actress Tika Sumpter.
Episodes are available every Tuesday on several digital platforms including Apple Podcasts and Spotify.
Tate and Fishburne also direct and produce the series — set in the 1940s — which shows the nuances of operating a gambling empire within a self-sustained Black neighborhood.
Season two adds actors Mekhi Phifer (“Paid in Full,” “ER,” “Soul Food”), Harold Perrineau (“Lost,” “The Matrix Reloaded”), Paul Ben-Victor (“The Wire,” “The Irishman”), Michael Nouri (“Finding Forrester”) and Barton Fitzpatrick (“The Chi”), along with Grammy Award-winning singer Lalah Hathaway, among others.
