News outlets in Italy are agonizing over reports that one of Lauren Sánchez’s dresses was stolen during the $50 million three-day wedding celebration in Venice.
The event, which drew Hollywood’s elite from June 26 to 28, allegedly attracted a number of gatecrashers—among them a “very elegant lady” who was at one point implicated in the high-fashion heist.
The missing garment, said to be one of 27 in Sánchez’s bridal wardrobe, is not believed to be the famed Dolce & Gabbana wedding gown, which, according to separate reports, may have caught fire during the festivities.
The woman implicated in the dress’s disappearance was searched when the dress went missing

According to the local Italian outlet, Corriere del Veneto, the woman initially associated with the garment’s disappearance was dressed in a manner that was “consistent with the aesthetic standard of the evening.”
The mystery attendee was not the only uninvited guest, but the rest were dressed in “sequins and sandals.”
Her look allowed her to pass metal detectors and a double barrier of bodyguards and she remained unnoticed—until it was discovered that one of the dresses was missing.
Only then was she remembered. The outlet reported that she was confronted and subjected to a search that produced nothing before being let go.
Nobody knew her name or where she came from, as no charges were pressed against her
The outlet goes on to say that no complaint was filed against her; thus, no one willing to talk has the faintest idea who she is.
The outlet stated that it remains unknown “whether she arrived as a troublemaker with social intentions or as a fashionista willing to do anything for her favorite model”—as so many other gatecrashers were.

Lauren’s 27 dresses were brought in especially for the three-day celebration and kept under close watch at the seven-star Aman hotel along Venice‘s Grand Canal.
No complaints were made to the local police in the hope that the garment would “turn up.”
Lauren Sánchez’s wedding gown is rumored to have caught fire
The lack of details has led to a rash of speculations, including one that the dress caught fire.
But said rumor is not entirely without merit.
According to the Italian outlet, in a location beyond the security barriers where only the nearest and dearest to the Bezos newlyweds had access, a dress–possibly the illustrious wedding gown that took 900 hours of needlework–caught fire.
It is said that, at the time, the garment was being worn by either Lauren or the attending U.S. president’s daughter, Ivanka Trump.
Insiders have since confirmed that one of the bride’s garments has disappeared, but they rubbished claims about gatecrashers or a burning dress.

Corriere del Veneto also noted that the ex-marines who were deployed to secure the celebration’s inner sanctum and the local security company, presumably bound by non-disclosure agreements, remained tight-lipped about the claims.
Some netizens think the dress’s disappearance is odd and are speculating about it being insurance-related
Social media, armed with barbed quips and jibes, was ready to respond to the news.
“Soon to be on sale on….. Amazon Marketplace,” wrote one person.
“Maybe it’ll show up on eBay in time for the divorce. This won’t last long,” prophesied another.
“Probably just hidden by her for more publicity attention,” wrote another, not convinced that the garment had been stolen.
“How does that even happen?” asked another.
The disappearance of the dress unfolded against a backdrop of Venetian protests on the ground

The wedding has since drawn backlash and has been dubbed as a wasteful display of “conspicuous consumption,” according to an exclusive by celebrity reporter Rob Shuter.
Oscar winner Charlize Theron used her annual block party in Los Angeles on June 28 as a platform to lash out at the Amazon Mogul.
Dissent for the event was seen on the ground in Venice, too.
On the same day, CNN published images of Italians taking to the streets in protest of the event, chanting “Bezos, f**k off,” and “Out of our lagoon!”
But according to Venetian authorities, Bezos “donated” the equivalent of $3.5 million to local institutions, while the wedding itself contributed 68% to the city’s annual turnover.
These figures, however, did not impress the locals who saw it as merely Bezos’ pocket change.
