An Adelaide lawyer has been ordered to stand trial accused of killing a prominent South Australian neuropsychologist in an alleged hit-run crash.

Lauren Jean Willgoose, 30, allegedly struck Anthony Walsh while he walked along Goodwood Road last June.

The 70-year-old died in the Royal Adelaide Hospital more than a week later.

Ms Willgoose, of Cumberland Park, pleaded not guilty to causing Mr Walsh's death by dangerous driving and driving without due care and attention.

The court heard Ms Willgoose had a blood alcohol reading of 0.08 — over the legal driving limit — at the time of the crash.

Police at the time said the driver also fled the scene of the accident.

Ms Willgoose's lawyer told the court the cause of Mr Walsh's death may be an issue as the 70-year-old did not die at the scene but in hospital some days later.

The court heard a post-mortem examination report had not yet been completed.

The matter returns to court in June.
