Ireland AM’s Laura Woods has told how she’s piled on the Covid stone – but couldn’t give a hoot.
She told the Irish Sunday Mirror: “I’ve always loved to cook anyway and you try to find the joy in the little things when you’re in lockdown.
“There’s no escape to go out for a bite to eat, so the way I got around that was trying new recipes.
“Absolutely the pounds came on, but it was a fun activity to do and one I continue to enjoy doing. It takes up that time of the evening, which I call the witching hour.”
Having been on telly for over two decades, Laura, 43, is comfy in her own skin.
She explained: “I don’t know if the pressure to look well is from other people or ourselves. I certainly don’t feel a pressure to be a certain weight.
“I know I’m happy in myself when I’m in my personal weight area, as I feel less bloated and I have more energy and my jeans fit.
“Part of my job is to look awake, smart and well groomed. My jeans fit but other things don’t right now. But to be honest with you, I’m in my 40s and thank God I didn’t grow up with the pressure of social media. For me Instagram is a place of fun.”
She revealed working in RTE for a decade was super until it ended.
She added: “It was a fantastic place to grow and learn, I was very young when I started there.
“When my contract finished with RTE, at the time TV3 came calling and I’ve stayed here ever since.”
