Laura Woods confirmed as talkSPORT's main breakfast show host to replace Alan Brazil

Laura Woods has been confirmed as talkSPORT’s main breakfast show host.

The radio station announced Woods will take over in the chair from Monday as first revealed by Mirror Sport.

Sky Sports star Woods has been a hugely successful stand-in and co-host on talkSPORT and she will now do the show every Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.

It comes after legendary presenter Alan Brazil scaled back his shows to just twice a week and Woods will be a hugely popular appointment.

Woods is one of the rising stars of radio and TV and has also built up a good rapport with Ally McCoist when they host the show together.

It comes after after Alan Brazil admitted he was going into “semi retirement” (UGC)

Brazil’s shoes were always going to be hard to fill after he hosted for 20 years and also has the best listening figures on the station.

However, Woods is a major hit with listeners - proved by the hugely positive feedback when Mirror Sport revealed on March 15 that she was getting the gig on a permanent basis.

Woods is also excellent on Sky as a pitch side reporter and presenter and is now one of the most high profile figures in sport on TV.

Brazil will still do Thursday and Friday together with big events in the future with the station keen to keep him as a central part of their programming.

Woods is a familiar face on TV due to her role with Sky Sports (PA)

Brazil confirmed he was stepping away from his show earlier this month when he said: “After 20 years of early-morning starts, Monday to Friday, that's me entering into semi-retirement with talkSPORT.

"From this week, I'll only be assaulting the airwaves on Thursdays and Fridays.

"But I'll still be hurting your eardrums in the build-up to the weekend football action - whenever it restarts - and around even more when the big events come along.”
