Laura Whitmore promotes Love Island on street where man was stabbed hours earlier

Laura Whitmore struts her stuff to promote Love Island...on a street where a man was stabbed just hours earlier.

Host Laura donned a skin-tight red one-piece for the glitzy teaser.

The star was filmed using a mallet to smash open a box containing an alarm emblazoned with show catchphrase ‘crack on’.

But fans had no idea there had been a real emergency the night before cameras began rolling - when a 20 year old man was stabbed on the same street at the Thames View Estate in Barking, East London.

We can reveal police were called to reports of the attack at 9.15pm on 10 May and discovered the unnamed victim with stab wounds to his back and shoulder.

He was taken to hospital where his injuries were deemed “non-life-threatening and non-life-changing,” according to the Met police.

Film crew turned the following morning with a giant pink flamingo, palm trees and a letterbox adorned with hearts, a video shared on TikTok showed.

A giant red jeep with flashing lights and the word “love” on it was also brought to set.

The finished promo clip was circulated via the official Love Island Instagram ahead of the show’s long-anticipated return this month - has been viewed over 875,000 times.

Laura - whose husband Iain Stirling, 33, narrates the show - also shared behind-the-scenes footage from the set to her 1.4mil followers this week.

The star can be seen with a host of whooping models in the clip.

The reality series has previously been hit by tragedy, after host Caroline Flack committed suicide at 40 in 2019.

Former contestants Sophie Gradon, 32, and Mike Thalassitis, 26, also took their lives in 2018 and 2019 respectively.

ITV Creative, who produced the promo, were in regular contact with local police who gave clearance for filming to continue.

The Met Police said there have been no arrests over the stabbing, adding: “The investigation is ongoing and enquiries continue.”
