Laura Muir starts outdoor season with 1500m win at USATF Grand Prix in Oregon

Laura Muir began her outdoor season with victory over 1500m at the USATF Grand Prix in Oregon.

The Scot, who will be seeking a first global outdoor medal at the Tokyo Olympics, made all the running to win by more than two seconds in a time of 4:01.54.

Muir’s training partner Jemma Reekie, who was one of the breakout stars of last season, setting new British indoor records over 800m and the mile,  was beaten by fellow Brit Adelle Tracey in the 800m, with just one hundredth of a second separating the pair.

There was a third British win on the card in the 5000m, with Eilish McColgan taking victory in a time of 14:52.44.

Elsewhere, Olympic champion Shaunae Miller-Uibo looked in fine early season form as she ran the fastest time in the world so far this year over 400m to take victory in 49.08.

American Trayvon Bromell won the 100m in 10.01, with countryman and 200m world champion Noah Lyles in second.
