Laura Hamilton moves into her own lavish Surrey property after shock split from husband

A Place In The Sun host Laura Hamilton has moved into her own property in Surrey after splitting from husband Alex Goward.

The TV presenter, who announced the sad news on her Instagram recently after 13 years of marriage, seems to be getting on just fine as she has moved into a sprawling new pad just outside of London.

She posed outside of the red brick house, with her arms crossed and a huge smile on her face.

It would seem Laura is excited to get to work on renovating the property, as she wrote on Instagram: "It's no secret I love renovating properties. I love turning something run down in to something special…"

She continued: "Yesterday my planning application was validated, and whilst I now have a couple of months before I can (hopefully) start the major work, in the meantime I'm making a start on repairing the roof and repointing the brickwork!"

Laura added: "I have BIG plans for my new home, but in the meantime it's cozy with lots of lamps, candles and flowers."

Earlier this month, Laura confirmed she had split from her husband Alex.

"This isn't something I ever thought I'd be saying but, after 13 years of being together Alex and I have separated," she penned on Instagram.

The Channel 4 name added: "Our children are and always will be our number one priority and we would respect privacy for our family at this time."

Laura illustrated the post with a picture of a quote reading: "Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened."

The pair wed in 2012 and have two children together, Rocco and Tahila.

In December, Laura bravely revealed she was bullied throughout her school years.

She said that it was so bad that she had suicidal thoughts.

Speaking on the Things I Told My Daughter podcast, recalls being "really, really sad" during the traumatic experience in her youth.

"I remember being really sad, really really sad," she told host Peta Todd.

"I remember saying 'I don’t want to live anymore', which is horrible."

On the podcast, Laura was joined by her mother Lynn, who supported her during some tough times at school.

Lynn, 67, told that the bullying occurred around the time Laura was studying for her GCSE exams.

Mean comments and bullying from her school peers left Laura in a bad place during her formative years.

"I can’t remember it very much, but I just know it was crap. It was a horrible time," she shared.
