Laura Hamilton explains common reason buyers stop the search on A Place in the Sun

Laura Hamilton explained a common reason that buyers often stop a house viewing.

The A Place in the Sun presenter appeared at the live show in Manchester last week to give property advice to the public. She explained that one common problem on the show is that buyers appear to stop viewing properties prematurely.

There's been many a time on the Channel 4 show when house hunters will say they have seen enough just one room into the properties selected. Some don't even make it past the kerbside.

Speaking exclusively to the Liverpool ECHO, Laura revealed why that is. The 40-year-old presenter said: "If people are viewing somewhere and they feel it’s not right for them then they just know.

"When we are filming A Place in the Sun, what you have to remember is we spend around two and a half hours in each of the houses that we view, but when that translates to the television show it only ends up being on screen for a minute and a half to two minutes.

"We get to see everything and there might be certain things that have happened that might not be edited into that particular house tour. I think if I walked into somewhere and I just knew then I’d probably call it a day and say no this isn’t for me."

Laura added that she "doesn't blame them" and the Channel 4 show encourages the buyers to be as honest as possible, even if it comes across as having a harsh opinion on TV. She said: "I totally understand when people feel that way and I’d rather people be honest.

"That’s what we say to people the whole time when we’re filming the TV show. If you feel it and it’s great - tell us. If you’re thinking no - just tell us.

"But sometimes I think people feel nervous about that because they think ‘well this is someone’s home, I don’t want to offend them and it’s going to be on TV’. Well just because it’s not right for you doesn’t mean it’s not going to be right for someone else, you just have to be honest the whole time."
