MUMBAI: The special CBI court has granted the Enforcement Directorate (ED) permission to take custody of builder Sanjay Chhabriaa from jail to question him in a money laundering case.
The ED had moved the court on Monday. Chhabriaa was arrested on April 28 in a fraud case related to DHFL promoters — Kapil Wadhawan and his brother Dheeraj — and former promoter of Yes Bank, Rana Kapoor. Chhabriaa is currently in judicial custody.
“Superintendent of Arthur Road jail to hand over custody of accused Sanjay Chhabriaa who is detained in CBI spl case to officers of Directorate of Enforcement,” the special CBI court said. The CBI had alleged that during its probe, it was revealed that after the Yes Bank investments of Rs 2,700 crore in DHFL in June 2018, DHFL appraised and sanctioned loans of Rs 1,100 crore and Rs 900 crore to Radius Estate Projects and Sumer Radius Realty, which are controlled by Chhabriaa.. tnn
