The first national daily newspaper in the Welsh language, titled Y Byd (The World), is to be launched next March. Its editor Aled Price said the paper and its accompanying website will employ 24 staff. Ned Thomas, chairman of Dyddiol Cyfs, the company behind the paper, explained that they have 340 private investors and 1,700 members of a supporters club. The project, based in Machynlleth, mid Wales, has also received business grant aid from the Welsh Assembly and Powys county council. (Via South Wales Echo)
